Information collected when you visit

Our server records the page requested, date and time, IP address, browser user-agent, and referral or campaign details where these are available. We use these records to understand website traffic, maintain security and investigate misuse. Referral and campaign information is not necessarily accurate and does not establish your identity or physical location.

Information collected when you contact us

If you submit the enquiry form, we collect the name and email address you provide, the requested subject, the student's school year group and your message. The submission is also associated with its IP address, browser user-agent and any available referral or campaign information. We use this information to respond, manage enquiries, prevent spam and understand which promotions lead to enquiries.

Please do not include medical details, safeguarding concerns or other sensitive personal information about a child in the enquiry message. The form is intended for parents or guardians making tuition enquiries.

Why we use this information

We use enquiry contact details to take steps at your request before potentially providing tuition. We use limited technical records, anti-spam checks and basic website and enquiry-source statistics for our legitimate interests in maintaining a secure, useful website and understanding how families find us. These interests are balanced against visitors' privacy. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising retargeting.

Who handles the information

The website and its MySQL database are hosted on a DigitalOcean server in New York, United States. Website administration and enquiries are handled by GCSE Made Clear. If we reply by email, email providers involved in sending and receiving the message may also process correspondence, including our Namecheap Private Email provider.

International storage and transfers

Website visit records and enquiries are stored in the United States. If you would like more information about the safeguards relevant to the handling of your information outside the UK, email info@gcsemadeclear.co.uk.

How long information is kept

These periods describe the application database. Separate Apache/server logs and backups may be kept according to their own configured retention schedules; information in backups may remain until the relevant backup expires.

Cookies

We do not use analytics or advertising cookies on the public website. A strictly necessary, secure session cookie is used for the private administrator login; ordinary website visitors do not need that cookie.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you may have rights to access or correct your information, request its deletion, restrict its use, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights depend on the circumstances and are not always absolute. To make a request, email info@gcsemadeclear.co.uk.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you are concerned about how your information is handled.
